updates updates. the other day i decided we need to really make a concerted effort to get this girl some tummy time. i'm worried about her arm strength, flathead, and whatnot. because since she learned to roll over from her back to front, she figured out that that left her on her tummy and she no likey that. so instead she just rolled onto her side and stopped. tricky little girl. so i did all this reading and one suggestion i found was to put her on her tummy on the exercise ball. so i did that and she actually tolerated it for a good 2 minutes before she got pissed at me.
anyway, yesterday, neela and i were playing with her on the new rug (hello instant play area!) and i put her on her tummy. well she immediately went into this yoga frog pose with her legs up in the air and her head up in the air, her back arched. she then proceeded to throw herself over onto her back. only one problem, she couldn't finish because one of her arms was in the way. so i helped her by tucking that arm up against her body, and flip! she was over. she did it like 4 times! each time we totally gave her praise in the form of clapping (which actually freaked her out i think) and smiles and kisses.
then later in the evening, i plopped her in the exersaucer and was amazed to see that suddenly she's figured that out too! she used her legs to reposition herself in the seat so that her chest wasn't all pressed up against the rim of the seat. she actually had arms free to play with things. she seemed more interested at this point in using her legs to move around. very cool. i was very excited about this. [neela later told me she did this earlier - but did she remember to tell me? nooooo.]
night before last i took ell for a walk in the stroller. now she can sit up in the stroller. can't believe she's such a big girl now. anyway, we headed out to regan's and it started to rain just as we got to her block! oops! thought maybe we could wait out the rain, but no such luck. regan had to go to our house, get our car and car seat, drive back to get us, then drive herself back home! thanks reg!
ella's still talking up a storm. she amazes everyone. she's not the whispering type. when she has something to say, she shouts it out! it's totally adorable. a lot of "ma!" "ba!" "AAAAGGHRHRHRLKASD" and so on. (still nothing beats her first word where she was in bed with us and she suddenly hollered out "halp!" don't call social services on us, okay?)
she also had a wonderful visit with auntie tara on the weekend. tara and her friend amanda were in town to shop and have fun, and see ella. it was great to see them, although we were so busy with the book awards and playgroup and so on. i felt bad that we didn't have more time to spend with the t-ball.
okay, i guess that's it for today.
