shower #1

yesterday was ella's *first* baby shower... or was it neela's and my first shower? anyway, neela's coworkers held a mini-shower for us yesterday, which was really sweet. ell was so good, as usual, and pretty much slept through the whole thing, despite being passed from admirer to admirer.
we also got some amazing gifts for ell!
such as?
the kangapouch! (you must see: http://kangapouch.net/features.html - we have the ABC patchwork print - see http://kangapouch.net/prints.html)
lots of baby einstein cds and dvds! (http://babyeinstein.com)
lots and lots of lovely clothes, all larger sizes so we'll actually get to use them!
and... some toys!
so we're very thankful and can't wait to try all this stuff out!

on a less joyful note, i go back to work tomorrow. not that there's anything wrong with work, it's just that i'm going to miss ell soooo terribly much. it's going to be quite a transition. i keep worrying that she's going to forget me. or not recognize me. or not be comforted by me and want her other mommy instead. wah.
nee and i had an interesting talk about the breastfeeding mommy versus the non-breastfeeding mommy. everything has it's plusses and minuses, doesn't it. when it's feeding time, i feel these two things: free, and irrelevant; and neela feels these two things: shackled, and vital. it's interesting how these conflicting emotions coexist.
being a parent is full of life lessons.
