well, ella, neela and i all were a part of the pride parade this weekend. for neela and i, it was the first time participating in the parade, rather than being a spectator. for ella, her first, period!
the weather was miserable. cold, pouring rain, wind, etc. i really thought no one would come. but lots of our playgroup showed up. and the streets were lined with people cheering us on! they said it was the largest crowd yet for edmonton pride!
we dressed ella soooo warmly - pjs, socks, fleecy overalls, thick sweater, shoes, a knitted hat, and a thick blanket on top. we bought a rain cover for her stroller to keep her warm and dry. (it was too funny when the other babies showed up sporting the same new rain cover - it seems we all ran out to buy it for the parade.) we forgot that the playgroup had arranged for t-shirts! so then we had to force this cute little "friends and family playgroup/families without borders" t-shirt over ella's already bulky outfit! no chance our baby girl was going to get cold! ha.
it was really really fun, despite the nasty weather. lisa, michael and sara joined us in the parade - sara sporting her adorable "my aunties love me" t-shirt as well! neela's parents joined us too when we came across them halfway through the parade.
